Ma. Soledad Margarita Deriquito-Mawis

Dean Deriquito-Mawis views her profession more of as a vocation. She wants to be of service to people especially families in conflict. She wants to help and change lives through her legal expertise and guidance.
Dean Deriquito-Mawis graduated cum laude from her preparatory law course and ranked fifteenth in her law class at the University of the Philippines in 1988..
Experience
Her extensive experience in handling various cases for three decades enabled her to confront the complexities of human life. She has successfully brought jubilation and comfort to her clients.
Dean Mawis is an educator as well. She is currently the Dean of the College of Law at the Lyceum of the Philippines University in Makati and Cavite campuses where she teaches Persons and Family Relations, Civil Procedure, and Evidence. She also teaches at the Colleges of Law of the University of the Philippines and the De La Salle University. She taught, too, at the College of Law of the Adamson University and at the John Gokongwei School of Management, Ateneo de Manila University.
She is a Bar Examinations Reviewer for Persons and Family Relations, Evidence and Civil Procedure. She was a member of the Panel of Experts for the post validation of the Remedial Law Bar Examinations of the 2011 Bar Examination and the UP Law Center’s Post Validation Bar Examinations in Remedial Law. She was a member of the technical working group for the revision of the 1997 Rules on Civil Procedure.
Dean Mawis is a Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) speaker of the UP Law Center and of the Center for Global Practices. She is a regular contributor of the Philippine Daily Inquirer where she writes about laws on the property.
Dean Deriquito-Mawis is currently the Chairperson of the Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS). She was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Judicial Academy, a “training school for justices, judge, court personnel, lawyers and aspirants to judicial posts” which was created by the “Supreme Court on March 16, 1996 by virtue of Administrative Order No. 35-96, and was institutionalized on February 26, 1998 by virtue of Republic Act No. 8557.”
Dean Deriquito-Mawis, together with Professors Katrina Legarda and Falor Vargas, co-authored a book on Family Law. She is one of the faculty members who contributed to PALS’ Book on MCQs for the 2011 Bar Examinations.
